NEWARK, N.J. – The Immaculata softball team earned a split in its non-conference doubleheader at Rutgers-Newark on Thursday afternoon. Immaculata won the first game 10-4, before falling in the second game 5-2.
With the split, Immaculata moves to 12-22 overall, and they are 4-6 in Atlantic East Conference play. Rutgers-Newark moves to 10-24 overall, and they are 2-14 in NJAC play.
Game One: Immaculata 10, Rutgers-Newark 4
In game one, the Mighty Macs broke things open with a five-run fourth inning on their way to a 10–4 victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED VS RUTGERS-NEWARK IN GAME ONE
- Immaculata opened the scoring in top of the second inning when Casey Pasco tripled to left, scoring Keira Joyce and Natalia Donofrio to give Immaculata a 2-0 lead.
- Rutgers-Newark got a run back on an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning and took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third on a two-run home run.
- The fourth inning proved decisive. Naila Valdez delivered a two-run single to regain the lead, and Jamie Green followed with a three-run inside-the-park home run to right, putting the Macs firmly in control at 7–3.
- Rutgers-Newark pulled a run back in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double to make the score 7-4.
- Pitcher Nadia Bhuiyan helped her own cause with an RBI double in the sixth, scoring Alexis Andrada, and Jamie Green drove in a pair of runs in the top of the seventh with a single, scoring Pasco and Kate Daly as Immaculata went on to close out the win, 10-4.

- In the circle, Nadia Bhuiyan went the distance to earn the win, allowing four runs on six hits while working around four walks to improve to 5-3.

- Casey Pasco: 3-for-3, 3B, 2 RBI, reached base 4 times.
- Naila Valdez: 1-for-3, 2 RBI and walked twice.
Game Two: Rutgers-Newark 5, Immaculata 2
Rutgers–Newark answered in Game 2, using early offense and capitalizing on Immaculata miscues to secure a 5–2 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED VS RUTGERS-NEWARK IN GAME TWO
- The Scarlet Raiders plated two runs in the first and never trailed, adding single runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth.
- Immaculata cut into the deficit with a sacrifice fly from Green in the third and an RBI groundout by Alexis Andrada in the fifth, to cut the lead to 3-2.
- Rutgers-Newark added a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth, on a ground out, and another on a fielding error to take a 5-2.
- Rutgers-Newark went on to close out the 5-2 win.

- The Immaculata softball team will return home on Friday, as they host Marymount for an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader on Friday with games at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. at the IU Softball Field.
- Friday is Senior Day as Immaculata will honor seniors Nadia Bhuiyan, Carlee Karcher, Rylee Martin, and Emma Pinto.
