Mighty Macs Eye Third Straight CSAC Semifinal Appearance On Saturday

IMMACULATA, Pa.- For the third consecutive season, the No. 3-seeded Immaculata women's lacrosse team will host a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Quarterfinal at Draper Walsh Stadium, and the Mighty Macs will be hosting No. 6 Notre Dame on Saturday at 1 p.m. for a spot in the CSAC Semifinals.

Immaculata (10-5, 7-2 CSAC) earned the third seed, their highest in program history, by winning the final five games on their schedule, four of them in CSAC play, highlighted by a 9-4 victory over Marywood on Senior Night.  Notre Dame (6-7, 4-5 CSAC) slid down in to the sixth position after dropping their final contest of the CSAC season to Gwynedd Mercy, who earned the fifth seed, by a score of 9-5.

These two teams already met once at Draper Walsh Stadium on March 18th under the lights and the Mighty Macs dominated that contest by a score of 17-2.  Junior First Team All-CSAC midfielder Kelly Lapp led all scorers on the night with five goals and two assists, and senior First Team All-CSAC midfielder Danielle Lopez added six points on four goals and two assists.  Junior First Team All-CSAC attacker Allison Jakavick had four goals, as Jakavick and Lapp became the sixth and seventh players in program history to reach the 100-goal mark.

Other contributors that night were junior Shannon Neill with four assists, freshman Hanna Verrecchia with two goals, senior First Team All-CSAC defender Sam Bonvetti with one goal, and freshman Rosemarie Reitman had a goal.  Bonvetti also had a big night defensively with a team-best six caused turnovers and six groundballs.

Immaculata scored the first 10 goals of the game to leave the result in no doubt in the first half.  The Gators would score one in the first half to make it 10-1 at the end of the first half.  Lapp scored all four of her goals before halftime, while Lopez chipped in with two herself to help stake IU to the big lead.

Notre Dame scored the first goal of the second half to make it 10-2, but the Mighty Macs scored the final seven of the game to wrap up the victory.  Jakavick scored three of her goals in the second and Lopez added another pair.

Second Team All-CSAC performer Sawyer Butto had both goals for the Gators in the loss.

The Mighty Macs have won four straight over Notre Dame, including a 16-4 win in the 2013 CSAC Quarterfinals on April 27th.

Immaculata has really hit their stride lately in winning a program-record five consecutive games.  Lapp leads the team and is tied for the lead in the CSAC with 69 points overall on 43 goals and 26 assists.  She also holds the team lead in groundballs with 51.  Jakavick leads the team with 45 goals and has added a career-high 17 assists.  Lopez has the third most with 37 goals, and is now the program's record holder in points and goals for a career.  She is also the team leader in draw controls with 60.

Defensively, Bonvetti has 24 caused turnovers and 37 groundballs, while freshman Second Team All-CSAC defender Brittany Whaley led the whole squad with 28 caused turnovers this season.
