Box Score 2 IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University softball combined for 22 runs as it split its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) doubleheader with Centenary College Friday afternoon. The Mighty Macs won the opener, 12-2, as Immaculata hit three home runs in the game. The hosts then lost game two to the Cyclones, 13-10.

Brittany Merkle hit a solo home run in the first inning to start the scoring for the Mighty Macs (10-16, 10-6 CSAC), and she added a three-run shot in the third inning to make it 10-2.
Caitlyn Hudock also hit a two-run homer in the first inning.

Annemarie Bartow was 3-for-4 on two doubles and one triple and two runs scored in the opening game. As a team, the Mighty Macs banged out 15 hits as
Christiana Donofry, Merkle,
Melissa Ejk, Hudock and
Caitlin Brasier all had two hits each. Merkle produced four RBIs and Hudock three.

Immaculata had a four-run first inning to jump in front early. After Centenary scored two runs in the top half of the third, Immaculata scored seven runs in the bottom of the third for the 11-2 lead. The Mighty Macs added one more in the fourth to secure the win.

Brasier went all five innings giving up nine hits, two runs and striking out four in the win.

In the nightcap, Centenary scored in six of the seven innings, although it was the Cyclones' three runs in the seventh that sealed the win. Centenary scored an unearned run in the first to get on the board. However, like in game one, the Mighty Macs put four runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the inning. Ejk hit a two-run double down the left field line, and Bartow followed two batters later with a two-run home run.

Centenary took the lead again in the second when it scored five runs to lead 6-4, and the Cyclones went ahead 7-4 after adding one more run in the third.

Immaculata took the lead back, 8-7, in the bottom of the third scoring four more runs on four hits.
Meghan Kugler,
Lauren Penn and Donofry all had RBI singles, and Kugler scored on Angelina Welsh's ground ball.

Hudock doubled into left center in the fourth to drive in another Mighty Mac run for the 9-7 lead.

Centenary tied the game at 9-9 with two runs in the fifth and then went ahead, 10-9, adding one in the sixth. However, it was the Cyclones' three runs in the top of the seventh that was the difference.

Immaculata had a two-out rally in the bottom portion of the seventh getting one run back. Penn walked, but was later out on
Lexie Diaz's fielder's choice. Donofry singled and Merkle walked to load the bases. Ejk drew a walk to push the one run across, but the Mighty Macs couldn't keep the inning alive.

Donofry finished the second game 4-for-5 at the plate.

Kugler took the loss in the circle giving up 10 runs, five earned, on 12 hits in five innings. Brasier pitched two innings allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits. Â

Immaculata hosts Notre Dame on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
