Mighty Macs Claim Third Straight Win, 19-5

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team won their third consecutive game this afternoon in their final non-conference game of the season against Lancaster Bible (2-9) by a score of 19-5.  The Mighty Macs (8-5) have scored 56 goals in their past three contests and not trailed in any of them.

Junior Allison Jakavick (one assist) had six goals, while junior Kelly Lapp (three assists) and senior Danielle Lopez (two assists) has four goals apiece.  Lapp has now totaled 19 points in her last three games with nine goals and 10 assists.  Freshman Rosemarie Reitman has two goals, and junior Shannon Neill and freshman Hannah Verrecchia had one goal each.  Junior Meredith Katona netted the second goal of her career for the Macs.

Reitman led IU with four groundballs each and sophomore Christine McIntyre (8-5) made five saves in the win.

IU ran away with the non-conference game at the end of the first half and throughout the entire second half as they held the Chargers scoreless for the final 34:16 of the game and netted nine goals themselves to seal the win.  They outscored Lancaster Bible 13-1 in the final 44:14 of the game as they slowly pulled away.

Leading 6-4 with 14:14 to go in the first half, the Macs ripped off four consecutive goals over a 2:51 stretch to grow their lead to 10-4.  Lapp scored the first before Jakavick netted back-to-back goals with Reitman finishing the Immaculata spurt.

Lancaster Bible halted the run with a goal at the 4:16 mark to make it 10-5, but that would be the last goal the Chargers would score as the Immaculata defense was great the rest of the way.

To finish up the first half, Jakavick and Lopez scored to make it 12-5 at the half.

In the second half, the Macs scored all seven goals with Lapp and Jakavick each netting two, and Reitman, Lopez, and Katona getting one each to finish off the win.

Immaculata will now host Marywood on Thursday night at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.
