Box Score LA PLUME, Pa.- For the third consecutive season, the Immaculata women's lacrosse team is headed back to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) postseason after defeating Keystone (0-7, 0-7 CSAC) by a score of 20-7 on Saturday afternoon. Danielle Lopez became the all-time points leader and goal scorer in Immaculata history as she reached totals of 193 points and 147 goals with four goals and three assists on the afternoon.
Junior
Kelly Lapp also had seven points to join Lopez as she collected three goals and four assists. Freshman
Hannah Verrecchia (one assist) had four goals as well, while juniors
Allison Jakavick (three assists) and
Shannon Neill each had three goals apiece.
Senior
Alyssa Petito added two goals and two assists, and sophomore
Bridget Polansky had one goal. Polansky also led the team with four caused turnovers, and tied for the team lead with four groundballs.
Sophomore
Christine McIntyre (7-5) had five saves in the win.
The teams traded goals in the opening 1:07 of the game with Verrecchia getting on the board on a feed from Jakavick, but the Mighty Macs then scored five straight goals in less than three minutes to take command of the game.
Neill scored twice in a 19 second span before Lapp, Jakavick, and Petito each scored to put IU in front 6-1 less than five minutes into the game.
Keystone halted the run with a goal at the 22:37 mark of the first half, but again the Mighty Macs had a big answer with seven straight goals this time to surge ahead 13-2 midway through the first half.
Lopez scored three goals in the stretch with the record-breaking goal coming at the 19:05 mark that put the Macs up 11-2. Petito and Verrecchia each scored once, and Jakavick scored two as IU built an insurmountable lead.
Keystone scored twice in the final two minutes of the half to send the game to halftime with IU in front 13-4.
In the second half, Immaculata outscored the Giants 7-3 to reach 20 goals on the day. Lapp and Verrecchia each scored twice in the second half, while Lopez, Neill and Polansky added one each to close out the 20-7 victory, their second straight.
The Mighty Macs will go back out of conference to play with a road trip to Lancaster Bible on Tuesday at 4 p.m. before Senior Night on Thursday at 7 p.m. when they host Marywood.
NOTES: Lapp is now third all-time on the points list with 174 and four in goals scored with 119 … Lopez passed Rebecca Whiteman (2008-11) for the points record and she moved past Kacie O'Neill (2009-11) to move into first on the all-time goals list.
