Box Score DOYLESTOWN, Pa.- Trailing 8-4 late in the third quarter, the Immaculata men's lacrosse team (0-2) staged a furious rally by scoring three consecutive goals to get within one with eight minutes to go, but they were unable to net the equalizer in an 8-7 loss to Delaware Valley (0-1) on Wednesday night.

Riley Cocks went 9-for-18 on faceoffs and added the first goal of his career.

Black also led the team with six groundballs, while sophomore defenseman
Jonathan Hurlburt had five groundballs and sophomore Sam Zingaro had four. As a team, the Macs had 36 groundballs and took advantage of their man-up situations, going 3-for-6 on the night.

Facing an 8-4 deficit after Delaware Valley scored four consecutive goals from the end of the second quarter to the 5:42 mark of the third quarter, the Mighty Macs rallied to cut into the deficit.

Cocks scored his goal after winning a face-off with 1:15 to go in the third quarter as the Macs trailed 8-5 entering the final period of play. It was then Hughes' turn to get in on the offense as he scored an even strength goal with 9:14 left in the game to make it 8-6.

On Hughes goal, the Mighty Macs earned a man-up opportunity and they cashed in when Hughes took a feed from Thompson and scored to make it 8-7 with 8:16 to go.

The Macs continued to apply the offensive pressure down the stretch with several possessions and opportunities, but they were unable to net the equalizer and tie the game as they took a tough, one-goal defeat.

The teams played a tight first half with the Aggies scoring the opening goal before Doyle tied it at the 5:56 mark of the first quarter. Delaware Valley scored with a minute to go in the first quarter to take a 2-1 lead into the second quarter, but Thompson scored a man-up goal on an assist from Doyle to tie the game.

Delaware Valley would then score two goals, but Black responded with a pair of goals, one at the 6:35 mark of the first half on an assist from Hughes, and then another with 2:45 to go before halftime to tie the game at 4-4. The Aggies scored 31 seconds later to take a 5-4 lead into the locker room.

The Mighty Macs will return home on Monday for a make-up game with Hood College at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
