Box Score ASTON, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team travelled to Neumann on Monday afternoon to play a make-up game against the Knights, and the Mighty Macs (3-4, 1-1 CSASC) didn't trail for the first 43 minutes of the game until the Knights (3-3, 2-0 CSAC) scored seven consecutive goals and IU was unable to recover in the 15-10 road defeat.

Juniors
Kelly Lapp and
Allison Jakavick each scored four goals, while senior
Danielle Lopez and freshman
Rosemarie Reitman (two assists) each had one goal. Lapp forced a team-high three turnovers, and sophomore goalie
Christine McIntyre led the squad with five groundballs. Freshman
Hannah Verrecchia and junior
Shannon Neill (one assist) each had four groundballs. McIntyre made 10 saves in the cage.

The Mighty Macs started out the game well with goals from Lopez and Reitman to stake them to a 2-0 advantage in the opening 10 minutes of the game. The teams then alternated two goals each way to keep IU in front 4-2 at the 12:36 mark with Jakavick and Lapp each netting their first for the Macs.

Neumann then scored two goals in a 33 second span to tie the game 4-4 with 11:43 to go in the first half, but Immaculata finished the first half by scoring three of the final four goals to take a 7-5 lead into the locker room at halftime. Lapp scored twice on assists from Reitman and Jakavick netted her second of the half on a feed from senior
Alyssa Petito to help IU grab their two-goal lead back through the opening 30 minutes of play.

The Knights netted the first goal of the second half, but Jakavick scored just 38 seconds later to keep IU in front, 8-6, with 25 minutes remaining in the game. The Knights scored back-to-back goals to tie the game at 8-8 before Lapp scored her fourth goal of the day on an assist from Neill to give the Macs a 9-8 advantage with 20:12 left.

The game would remain 9-8 for the next four minutes until the Knights kicked off a run of seven straight goals over the next 14:45 that proved to be the difference in the game. Neumann scored their final tally at the 16:48 mark that gave them a 15-9 advantage. Jakavick scored the final goal of the game, but it was too late in the 15-10 defeat.

The Mighty Macs will continue their big week in CSAC play as they travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Wednesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. contest.
