Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa.- After nearly erasing a four-goal deficit in their last game, an 8-7 loss to Delaware Valley, the Immaculata men's lacrosse team again pulled within one late against Alvernia (2-3) on Wednesday afternoon, but freshman
Brendan Doyle's last second shot was saved and the Macs (0-3) fell by a score of 8-7 for the second consecutive game.

Tyler Black recorded his third consecutive two-goal game to lead the offense, and he added three assists as he contributed to five of the seven Mighty Mac tallies. Doyle, freshman

Doug Hughes each scored one goal.

Lerario had a team-high six groundballs, while sophomore
Jonathan Hurlburt led the team with four caused turnovers and added five groundballs. Hughes and Cocks (7-for-15 faceoffs) had four groundballs each.

The Mighty Macs trailed 8-5 after an Alvernia goal with 8:55 to go, but for the second straight game, the Macs showed some fight and got back into the game.

Zingaro took a great feed from Black, his third of the day, and found the back of the net for his second goal of the season to make it 8-6 with 7:07 to go. The score held for almost five minutes until Black scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season and second of the day to cut the score to 8-7 with 2:37 remaining.

Alvernia then held off the Macs until the final minute when Hurlburt forced a turnover with less than 55 seconds left and IU advance the ball up the field and drew a penalty which gave them a man-up opportunity with 11.3 seconds to go. Immaculata passed the ball around the perimeter and got it to Doyle at the top of the circle, but his shot was saved by the keeper as time expired to wrap up the Alvernia win.

The Macs held a 4-3 lead going into the locker room after scoring three consecutive goals in the second quarter. Hughes scored the first goal of the game to go up 1-0 just 3:26 into the first quarter, but Alvernia scored three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead into the second quarter.

The second quarter was all IU as Doyle and Cocks each scored within 46 seconds each other, both on feeds from Black, to tie the game at 3-3 with 9:59 to go before half. Lerario then scored his first of the season to send the Macs to the locker room with a 4-3 lead.

Alvernia then dominated the third quarter, scoring three goals while keeping IU off the board to take a 6-4 advantage.

They made it 7-4 early in the fourth quarter before Black scored the first IU goal of the second half with 12:27 to go before the tense final moments.

The Mighty Macs will return to action this coming Saturday when they travel to Misericordia at 1 p.m.
