Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Immaculata University women's basketball played its first game in one week after finishing fall semester finals on Saturday with a road loss at Bryn Mawr, 66-48, in non-conference action.
Immaculata (2-6) was led by
Morgan Wentz's 10 points and five rebounds off the bench.
Gina Cocci and
Dia Veneziano each chipped in eight points, while Cocci added two steals and two assists, and Veneziano brought down five rebounds.
Bailey Krewson and
Theresa Walsh both amassed seven points and five rebounds. Walsh also grabbed three steals.
Bryn Mawr (3-7) started the game on a 7-0 run before Cocci knocked down a three for the Mighty Macs with 6:18 remaining in the first period.
Elizabeth McBride would hit a 3-pointer a minute later, and Cocci connected on her second 3-point basket in the closing minute of the first as the Mighty Macs trailed, 13-9, after one period.
Immaculata came out in the second period scoring the opening five points to grab its first lead of the game, 14-13, just 1:45 into the period. It was a back-and-forth affair and the teams were even at 21-all with 4:41 to play before halftime. However, the Owls ended the half with 13 points as they held a 34-21 advantage at the break.
Bryn Mawr added to its lead in the third period, and went ahead by as many as 25 (54-29) with 2:16 to play before Immaculata scored four points during the final two minutes.
The Mighty Macs outscored the Owls, 15-12, during the fourth period, but it was not enough for the win. Immaculata was able to hold Bryn Mawr scoreless during the final four minutes of the game, while the Mighty Macs scored six points for the 66-48 decision.
Immaculata will play its final game in 2015 on Thursday, Dec. 17, as it heads to Lancaster Bible for a 5 p.m. start.
