Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Mighty Mac women's soccer team (2-8-1, 2-3 CSAC) was looking to snap their two-game Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) losing streak on Wednesday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium when they hosted Notre Dame in conference action, but the Gators scored a goal in each half and staved off the Immaculata pressure as the Macs fell, 2-0.
Senior goalie
Elizabeth McBride had five saves for the Macs, and freshman
Carrie Quigley had six of the team's 18 shots to lead the team. Freshman
Morgan McDonough added three shots herself.
Notre Dame (8-2, 2-2 CSAC) didn't take long to jump in front as their leading scorer, Meghan Connor, netted her 15th of the season as she beat a couple defenders and went high to get it past McBride for the 1-0 lead.
The score would hold there the rest of the half, despite four shots from Quigley.
In the second half, the Gators would add a key insurance goal in the 61st minute on a tally from Alla Stepanov, but the Mighty Macs would turn up the offensive pressure.
Sophomore reserve
Rosemarie Reitman came on and hit two great shots, one saved by the keeper and the other by a diving defender, and junior
Rachel Lamb had a couple strong chances, but Lilly Gordon was there with the save for the Gators.
The Macs continued to try climbing back in the game, but were unable to capitalize on their chances and fell, 2-0.
The Mighty Macs will look to snap their three game CSAC skid on Saturday with a 1 p.m. game at Cedar Crest.
