Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team hosted Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium against Rosemont (6-9-1, 5-4-1 CSAC) in need of a victory to keep their chances of a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) playoff berth alive, but four second half goals by the Ravens sunk the Mighty Macs, 4-1.
Prior to the game, the team honored seniors
Rachael Gugasian,
Elizabeth McBride,
Kimesha Speller, and
Kaitlyn Taylor in a ceremony before their final contest at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Freshman
Morgan McDonough scored the lone goal of the game for the Macs (3-11-2, 3-6-1 CSAC), and McBride made four saves in the cage.
After a defensive struggle for much of the first half, McDonough got the Macs on the board with her fourth goal of the season. Junior
Elizabeth Dudas sent a pass from just over midfield toward the cage that the goalie came out to challenge, but McDonough cut the ball off, made a move around the keeper and hit a shot from 30 yards out that found the back of the net. The Mighty Macs held a 1-0 lead heading into the locker room.
In the second half, the Ravens would capitalize on their opportunities to take control of the contest as they scored three goals in a 16-minute stretch. Rosemont got the equalizer in the 49
th minute and then Savannah Widdicombe scored goals in the 52
nd and 65
th minutes to increase their lead to 3-1. They would add one more in the 89
th minute.
The Macs continued to pressure with Dudas, Speller, and freshman
Carrie Quigley forcing the attack, but it wasn't enough as IU dropped their home finale at Draper Walsh Stadium, 4-1, which eliminated them from CSAC playoff contention.
IU will play the final non-conference game of their season on Tuesday at Delaware Valley at 7 p.m. before playing their season finale on Thursday at Cabrini at 4 p.m.
