Volleyball Unable To Pull Out Win At Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa. – Immaculata University's volleyball team was unable to force a fifth set against Keystone College, as the Mighty Macs fell to the host Giants, 3-1, in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) action, 25-23, 21-25, 25-13 and 26-24.
 
Immaculata drops to 12-7 overall and 7-3 in the conference, while Keystone improved to 18-5, 8-2 CSAC.
 
Gabrielle Guerrera paced the Mighty Macs with 15 kills while making five blocks and six digs. Shelby Belk had eight kills, three blocks and three digs. Morgan Wentz had seven kills and four blocks.
 
Maranda Jones handed out 33 assists and made 11 digs for a double-double. Arden Vizzard had a team-best 21 digs, while Molly Truitt made 20 digs.
 
In the first set, Keystone won five of the last seven points to edge out Immaculata, 25-23. The Mighty Macs had a 21-20 advantage heading into the final run as they overcame a four-point deficit (20-16).
 
The Mighty Macs started the second set with a 6-1 lead and were able to keep the Giants at a distance for the rest of the set.
 
Then in the third set, Keystone turned the table on Immaculata turned a 2-2 set into a 7-2 lead, which the Giants didn't hand back the rest of the way.
 
In the fourth set, after the Mighty Macs jumped in front, 5-1, the Giants began to inch themselves back in, and Keystone eventually tied the set at 10-all. Immaculata took the advantage again and at 20-16 looked to be in good shape to force a fifth set. The two teams traded points until Keystone scored five straight points that turned Immaculata's 22-18 lead into a Keystone lead, 23-22.
 
Immaculata then called timeout, and the Mighty Macs came back on the court and responded with two consecutive points for set point (24-23). Keystone then called timeout, and the Giants finished the set with three straight points for the match.
 
Immaculata hosts Marywood on Saturday, October 31, at 1 p.m. in the final regular season match of the season. The Mighty Macs will be playing for seeding in the CSAC Tournament.
