Mighty Macs Lose Early Lead, Fall 4-1 At Albright

Box Score

READING, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team travelled to Albright on Wednesday evening looking to rebound from their opening loss, and the Mighty Macs jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead, but the Lions (1-2) scored four unanswered goals and dealt Immaculata (0-2) a 4-1 defeat.

In the defeat, junior goalie Elizabeth McBride recorded a career-high 15 saves.

Immaculata wasted little time getting their first goal of the season as sophomore Erica Buckley recorded her second career assist on a feed to sophomore Carly Mirarchi who notched her fifth career goal to give the Mighty Macs a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.

Immaculata would hold that lead until Albright tallied two goals in a 2:32 span late in the first half to take the 2-1 lead which they would not relinquish.

The score remained the same into the second half when the Lions added a goal in the 58th minute and put the game out of reach in the 81st with their fourth straight goal.

The Mighty Macs will look to rebound on Tuesday, September 9th with a road trip to Widener at 4 p.m.
