The ninth-annual Maggie Dixon Classic will feature Immaculata vs. Queens followed by a Connecticut vs. St. John's match up.
Immaculata and Queen's met on February 22, 1975 in the first women's basketball game ever played at Madison Square Garden with the Mighty Macs defeating the Knights, 65-61, in front of a crowd of 11,969 fans.
The Maggie Dixon Classic is held annually in memory of the former Army Black Knights women's basketball coach, who died in 2006 of a heart arrhythmia at the age of 28. Over the course of her six months as head coach at the United States Military Academy Dixon led her team to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
A heart and health expo is held at Madison Square Garden along with the games.
The first Maggie Dixon Classic was played on Nov. 12, 2006 at West Point, N.Y. It featured a men's game, Pittsburgh vs. Western Michigan, as well as women's game, Army vs. Ohio State. In 2007 the event was moved to Madison Square Garden and has been played at MSG since.
The Mighty Macs most recently played at Madison Square Garden on January 23, 2010 against Cabrini College. The Cavaliers won that contest 66-52.
