Box Score Immaculata, Pa. - Senior
Joe DiGiaimo roped a three-run triple to right field in the fifth inning, to break open a 2-1 game and help propel Immaculata University to an 11-3 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) victory over Gwynedd-Mercy University on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Mighty Macs take all three games from the Griffins during the weekend series. Immaculata earned 2-1 and 5-2 wins over Gwynedd on Saturday.
With the bases loaded in the fifth, sophomore
Rick DiDomenico was hit by pitch to score senior Alex Kobylinsky and break a 1-1 tie. DiGiaimo followed with his triple, but the Mighty Macs (20-12, 11-7) were not quite finished for the fifth. Sophomore
Rob Wallace added an RBI single to plate DiGiaimo and advanced to second on a throwing error. Senior
Eli Vottero followed with an RBI single to score Wallace, while fellow senior
Patrick Boulware pushed a single to a left field and advanced Vottero to third base. Vottero scored from third on a delayed double-steal to push Immaculata's lead to 8-1.
Wallace, Bouleware and Vottero each had two hits, DiDomneico collected two RBI. Rich Young went 3-4 for the Griffins (18-16-1, 12-6) as D.J. Mallon (1-1) suffered the loss.
Sophomore
John Ryan (3-2) earned the win allowing two runs and amassing six strikeouts in six innings.
The Mighty Macs will meet Gwynedd-Mercy once again on Wednesday, May 7 in the first round of the CSAC Championship.
