Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
IMMACULATA, Pa—Baseball hosted Centenary (17-15, 7-9) this afternoon for a crucial CSAC doubleheader, splitting the two games with the Cyclones. Dropping the first game 5-3 in 11 innings and winning the second 6-5.

In the first game the Cyclones struck early, scoring in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead, but that would not hold for long as the Mighty Macs (17-12, 8-7) took a lead of their own after Jason McCormick (0 for 4, R) and Rick DiDomenico (0 for 3, R) both were hit by pitches to begin the game. Both runners would come around to score giving Immaculata the 2-1 lead.

Dan Whalen (4-0) was on the bump for the home team as he looked to build on his already impressive campaign. Whalen tossed an imposing 5 1/3 innings giving up three earned runs, while striking out six. He would register a no decision in this outing as the game would turn into a marathon.

With the Mighty Macs trailing 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Matt Lawson drew a leadoff walk before being replaced for a pinch runner, Mike Sciasci (0 for 1, R). Sciasci would then score as Mike Lascomb (1 for 4, 2B, RBI) smacked a missile at the shortstop that was good enough to tie the game.

The game would go all the way to the 11th inning until the Cyclones put up a two spot in the top of the inning, grabbing the lead 5-3, a lead they wouldn't give up.
The second game was more in the home team's favor though it was a back and forth affair for most of the game. The Cyclones took an early lead much like the first game, but again the Mighty Macs tied it in the first at 1-1 as Patrick Boulware was caught stealing at second allowing Eli Vottero to swipe home.

Immaculata's bat stayed silent as Centenary tacked on three runs giving them a 4-1, until the Mighty Macs exploded for five runs of their own in the fifth inning. A Jason McCormick double that scored Mike Lascomb started the comeback for the home team. Joe DiGiaimo followed that up with a two RBI single to tie the game at 4-4, when Boulware hit a two RBI double of his own to give Immaculata the 6-4 lead.

Immaculata would hold on to a 6-5 win as closer Nick Campione came in and shut things down as her recorded his seventh save of the year.  Adam Wheatley (3-2)  threw a stellar 5 1/3 innings giving up four earned runs and striking out three to earn his third win of the season.

The Mighty Macs open an important playoff implicated series as they travel to Gwynedd Mercy on Friday.
