Mighty Macs Take Finale From Marywood, 4-1

Box Score
IMMACULATA, Pa—The Mighty Mac baseball team capped off their series with Marywood (12-10, 4-6) on Wednesday with a win 4-1, taking one of three games from the Pacers.

Immaculata (15-11, 6-6) began it early in the first inning with Jason McCormick (1 for 3, R) hitting a lead off single and then immediately scoring off a triple from Rick DiDomenico(2 for 3, 3B). DiDomenico then scored on a wild pitch putting the Macs up 2-0. Joe DiGiaimo (1 for 2, 2B, 2 runs) worked a walk and then advanced on an error by the Marywood third baseman off the bat of Eli Vottero. With runners on first and third, Pat Boulware (0 for 2, RBI) hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring DiGiaimo. The Mighty Macs lead 3-0 after one inning of play.

Scoring then hit a lull due in part to a stellar pitching performance from senior John Pedorenko. Pedorenko (3-0) finished off the day going 7 1/3 innings surrendering only four hits and allowing just one earned run with four strikeouts. Both sides stayed quiet until Marywood got on the board in the sixth with back to back doubles bringing them within two, at 3-1.

Immaculata tacked on another run in the sixth after a DiGiaimo double to lead off the inning and then later scored on a throwing error putting the Mighty Macs up 4-1, a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Nick Campione closed it for his sixth save of the year.

With this win Immaculata thrusts themselves into the playoff race, now sitting in fourth place. The team takes on Centenary this weekend in a pivotal CSAC series beginning on Friday away before hosting the Cyclones for a double header on Saturday.
