Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa. – A five-goal run by visiting Centenary College helped the visitors to defeat Immaculata University in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) men's lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.

It was a swing game during the first three quarters as the two squads traded leads, which were never more than two goals, and were tied on six different occasions. It wasn't until the Cyclones' five-goal run to end the third quarter and begin the fourth that either team took control of the game.

Rocco Piliero and Michael Thompson each scored two goals and had one assist for Immaculata. Bhelly Bagbonon scored one goal while making four assists. Doug Hughes, Jonathan Kopistecki and Ben Lerario rounded out the scoring with one goal each.

Immaculata (0-9, 0-2 CSAC), which played from behind for much of the game, took its first lead (6-5) as Thompson scored from a pass by Bagbonon with 11:18 remaining in the third quarter. After Centenary scored the equalizer, Bagbonon again set up his teammate for the goal as this time it was Hughes who found the back of the net for the 7-6 edge with just 2:33 left in the quarter.

Centenary, who had been answering Immaculata all game, used just 20 seconds to tie the score at 7-all, and the goal by Trevor Krupinski started the five-goal spurt for the Cyclones. Centenary would add the go-ahead tally with 1:26 to play in third quarter for the 8-7 lead.

The Cyclones (3-5, 1-0 CSAC) scored their first goal of the final quarter on a man-up opportunity with just under 10 minutes left in the contest, and 44 seconds later they tacked on another goal for the 10-7 advantage. Krupinski scored again to close out Centenary's run with 6:24 remaining on the clock, and it marked the visitor's largest lead in the game (11-7).

Thompson put the Mighty Macs back within three (11-8) with his rocket from Piliero's feed with 5:47 to go, but the only scoring during the final five minutes was one more goal from Centenary.

Immaculata goalkeeper Donald Schiffer made 19 saves despite the loss. Centenary's Kevin Switzer was credited with 22 saves to lead his team to the win.

Krupinski finished with four goals for the Cyclones while Anthony Biango had three goals and one assist.
