Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team ran their win streak to six games, the program's longest since 2011, with a 6-4 non-conference victory over Lebanon Valley (17-12) on Wednesday afternoon. The Mighty Macs (14-9) have finished their non-conference slate for the season by winning their final seven contests.
The Mighty Macs trailed 4-2 heading to the seventh inning, but scored four runs in the final three innings to claim the win. A single by sophomore first baseman
Mike Lascomb broke the tie in the eighth inning to lift IU.
Immaculata, who now leads the nation in stolen bases per game at 5.13, stole five more bases today and established a new team-record for stolen bases in a season with 118, breaking the previous mark of 111 in 2011. Sophomore
Rick DiDomenico (1-for-4, R, RBI, SB, HBP) also broke the single season record for stolen bases with 25, snapping the old mark of 24 set by
Matt Hardy a season ago.
Senior third baseman
Eli Vottero (RBI, SB) led the offense with two of the eight hits, while freshman
Howie Kalamets (1-for-4, 2 SBs) scored three of the six Mighty Mac runs.
Seven Mighty Mac pitchers combined to hold the Dutchmen to four runs and seven hits. Freshman
Adam Wheatley (2-1) got his second victory in five days with a perfect seventh inning and sophomore
Nick Campione got his fifth save of the season with a six-pitch, 1-2-3 ninth inning.
Trailing 4-2 entering the top of the seventh, Kalamets stole second and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Lascomb (1-for-2, RBI). Freshman pinch hitter
Jason McCormick then hit a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3. With two outs, DiDomenico was hit by a pitch for the 17
th time this season, then moved to second on a single by junior designated hitter
Matt Lawson (1-for-3, RBI, 2 BBs). DiDomenico then created the tying run with his legs as he moved to third on a wild pitch and an errant throw by the catcher allowed him to score the tying run.
After Wheatley retired the side in order, Immaculata took the lead in the top of the eighth with a two-out rally. Kalamets reached on an error and stole second before Lascomb delivered the big hit to put IU in front 5-4.
Sophomore
Dan Whalen surrendered a hit, but worked around it to hold the one-run lead. In the ninth, Vottero hit an RBI single to score sophomore right fielder
Rob Wallace (1-for-5, R, SB) and provide an insurance run.
Campione worked a perfect ninth for the eighth save of his career and a 6-4 Immaculata win.
Sophomore
Mike Campisano pitched two scoreless innings in the start. Senior
John Pedorenko then surrendered two unearned runs in the third and fourth innings as Lebanon Valley led 2-0 through four. The Mighty Macs tied it in the top of the fifth as DiDomenico drove in a run on an error and Lawson made it 2-2 with an RBI groundout.
Sophomore
John Ryan gave up two runs in the sixth to make it 4-2 Dutchmen through six innings before Immaculata mounted their comeback.
Immaculata will now focus on CSAC play for their final nine games of the season. That will start after the Easter break on Monday with a doubleheader at Marywood beginning at 1 p.m.
