Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University fell to Marywood University, 21-8, on Saturday afternoon in the final home Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest for the Mighty Macs.
Immaculata was led by
Bhelly Bagbonon's three goals and two assists, and
Doug Hughes recorded two goals and one assist.
Michael Thompson also scored two goals for the Mighty Macs.
Samuel Zingaro tallied one goal, and
Rocco Piliero made two assists.
The Mighty Macs tied the game at 1-1 with 6:31 left in the first quarter as Bagbonon set up Zingaro for the goal. However, Marywood led, 3-1, at the end of the period as the Pacers scored twice in a span of 17 seconds.
Marywood (7-7, 3-1 CSAC) used a 6-1 run during the first 11-plus minutes of the second quarter to open an 8-2 lead. Immaculata's goal during the Pacers' spurt was from Thompson. Each team scored during the final 2:11 of the half for the Pacers to hold a 10-3 lead at halftime.
Bagbonon started the second half for the Mighty Macs with a goal from Piliero's feed, but the Pacers added four-straight goals to extend their lead. Bagbonon and Hughes scored with 32 and nine seconds, respectively, remaining in the third quarter to trim the Mighty Macs deficit to 14-6 heading into the final stanza.
After Marywood scored two goals to start the fourth quarter, Thompson and Bagbonon scored for Immaculata to cut the lead back to eight goals (16-8) with 8:44 to play in the game. All the scoring for the rest of the game would come from the visiting Pacers.
Donald Schiffer started in goal for Immaculata and made 11 saves while allowing 14 goals in 45 minutes.
Christian Custodio and
Jalal Hodges split time in the fourth quarter as Custodio made one save.
Immaculata (0-12, 0-5 CSAC) plays its final conference game on Wednesday as it travels to Neumann at 4 p.m.
