Men's Lacrosse Comes Up Short At Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Immaculata University's men's lacrosse team dropped its non-conference game at Catholic University of America Saturday afternoon, 16-3, at Cardinal Stadium.
 
Bhelly Bagbonon had one goal and one assist to lead the Mighty Macs (0-3). Jonathan Kopistecki and Michael Thompson each scored one goal, and Tyler Bielecki was credited with one assist.
 
IU goalkeeper Donald Schiffer, who paced the team with six ground balls, made 10 saves in the loss.
 
Catholic started the game scoring five goals during the first 11 minutes of the opening half. Bagbonon scored his tally with 3:07 remaining in the first half, and that would cap the scoring in the first frame.
 
The Cardinals scored first in the second quarter with a goal at the 11:17 mark. However, the Mighty Macs answered with Thompson's goal from the assist by Bagbonon just 36 seconds later to maintain the four-goal difference (6-2).
 
Catholic scored twice more before Immaculata found the back of the net with 4:24 to play before halftime. Kopistecki scored on the Bielecki feed to put the Mighty Macs down 8-3.
 
Catholic scored with 18 seconds left in the first half to lead 9-3 at the break.
 
The Cardinals scored four goals in the third quarter and three in the fourth to cap the scoring.
 
Immaculata's next contest is Saturday, March 15 against Misericordia at 3:30 p.m. in what will be the home opener for the Mighty Macs.
