Mighty Macs Down Bryn Mawr, 18-5, To Stay Perfect

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Katie Cook and Danielle Lopez scored five goals apiece, and Kelly Lapp recorded five assists as Immaculata University women's lacrosse team defeated Bryn Mawr College, 18-5, on the road Friday afternoon.
 
Immaculata improves to 2-0 on the young season while Bryn Mawr is now 1-1.
 
Allison Jakavick got the Mighty Macs on the board just 39 seconds into the game, and Immaculata would begin the game scoring four goals during the opening 17 minutes. Cook tallied Immaculata's second goal, and the run ended with two goals by Lopez.
 
The Owls scored their first goal with 10:53 to play before halftime in what began a scoring streak of four goals in less than one minute by the two teams. The Mighty Macs answered with a quick goal from Jakavick just 29 seconds after Bryn Mawr's goal. Bryn Mawr then responded with two strikes just 16 seconds apart to trim Immaculata's early lead to 5-3 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the first half.
 
The Mighty Macs would thwart off any more scoring changes by the Owls while scoring six unanswered goals to break open a close game and take the teams into halftime (11-3). Cook scored three of Immaculata's six goals to fuel the run, and Mandy Grahn scored two while Alyssa Petito recorded the other goal.
 
Immaculata continued where it left off as the second half got underway scoring six more goals. Lopez ended the six-goal spurt for the Mighty Macs with three consecutive goals in a three-minute span.

Bryn Mawr scored twice more during the final 10 minutes, and Immaculata's Kirsten Jensen capped the scoring with her first collegiate goal with 3:34 left in the game.
 
Cook finished with five goals and one assist, Lopez had five goals and Lapp had five assists. Jakavich and Grahn each tallied three while Jakavich had one assist and Grahn finished with two helpers. Petito had one goal and two assists. Shannon Neill also had two assists.  

 Nicole Behrndt (2-0) played all 60 minutes and made 10 saves.

 Immaculata outshot Bryn Mawr, 33-17.

Immaculata will next be tested on Tuesday, March 11 traveling to Albright at 4 p.m.

Notes: Allison Jakavich and Kelly Lapp jump into the career Top 10 in points with 71 each … Katie Cook inches closer to 100 career goals, moving into fourth on the career list with 98 goals.
