Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FORT PIERCE, FLA.- Immaculata hoped to rebound from a pair of losses yesterday as they took on Elizabethtown in a doubleheader this morning. The Mighty Macs (2-5) split the pair with the Blue Jays (5-3) as they took the first game, 4-1, before surrendering the second to Elizabethtown, 13-5, at the Florida Coast Spring Training.

In the first game, the Mighty Macs sent senior Bryan McHale (W, 4 IP, 7 K, 1 hit allowed) to the mound to see his first action of the year. The senior righty collected two of his seven strikeouts in the first inning. Offensively, Immaculata struck first in the second inning as first baseman Mike Lascomb (1-2, R, SB) led off the inning with a single, later scorning on a single off the bat of Nick Comito (2-3, RBI).

In the third inning, Jason McCormick (0-2, R, 2 SB) walked and then stole second and third. Patrick Boulware (1-3, RBI, SB) scored McCormick on a two out double a few pitches later. Mike Lascomb walked as Boulware advanced to third on a wild pitch giving the Mighty Macs runners on first and third. Immaculata then executed the perfect double steal as both runners were safe, scoring the runner from third opening the lead to 3-0.

Howie Kalamets (2-3, HR, RBI) began the fourth with a bang as he recorded his first collegiate homerun giving the Mighty Macs a 4-0 lead. Immaculata took that lead into the fifth before John Pedorenko (2 IP, K) gave up the lone run of the game to the Blue Jays as Colton King homered.

Nick Campione (IP, 3 K) shut the door for the Mighty Macs registering his first save of the year as he fanned three Blue Jays to close it out.

The second game started with Elizabethtown notching the first run of the game in the first inning from a single by Sean Jones. Starting pitcher Ryan Blough (L, 2 IP, 3 ER, K) couldn't fend off the Blue Jays very long as they posted three runs in the first two innings.

In the third, Immaculata finally got the offense going as Howie Kalamets (2-3 2B, RBI, R) singled and then later scored off an error. The Mighty Macs tallied another run in the inning as Rick DiDomenico (1-4, RBI) collected an RBI single bringing the score to 3-2.

The bottom half of the inning did not go as smoothly for Immaculata as they gave up three runs to the Blue Jays as Matt Dolan (.2 IP 3 ER) took over on the mound. The Mighty Macs would go silently in the fourth, as Elizabethtown added another run.

The score would stay 7-2 until Jason McCormick (0-3, R) led off the sixth with a walk and then advance to third on a Joe DiGiamo (1-4 2B, R) double with no outs. Both runners would then score from a two-out, two-run single off the bat of Eli Vottero (1-3, 2 RBI).  Kalamets then added his fourth hit of the day with an RBI double to make it 7-5.

Elizabethtown would add a six spot against the Immaculata bulllpen in the bottom half of the inning finishing off the Mighty Macs 13-5.
