Box Score IMMACULATA, Pa. –
Bhelly Bagbonon had a hand in four Mighty Mac goals but it was not enough as Immaculata University's men's lacrosse team fell at home to visiting DeSales University, 11-5, Friday evening.
Bagbonon scored two goals and assisted on two others to lead Immaculata (0-8).
Michael Thompson posted one goal and one assist, and
Rocco Piliero and
Samuel Zingaro each scored one goal for the Mighty Macs.
Jonathan Kopistecki had one assist.
DeSales came out and scored four goals during the opening quarter to lead 4-0.
Immaculata silenced DeSales' streak with Thompson's goal assisted by Bagbonon at the 11:23 mark of the second quarter to trim the score to 4-1. However, the Bulldogs scored just inside five minutes remaining in the first half for the 5-1 halftime lead.
Bagbonon started a three-goal flurry for the Mighty Macs in the third quarter when he shot the ball past the Bulldogs goalie just 2:12 into the stanza putting the score at 5-2. Unfortunately, DeSales answered with a goal just over a minute later.
Bagbonon scored again with 10:46 on the clock on a feed by Thompson, and Zingaro then scored on Bagbonon's pass just over a minute later to bring the Mighty Macs within two goals (6-4). DeSales scored with 3:08 to play in the third to extend its lead to 7-4 heading into the final quarter.
The Bulldogs added another goal with 10:43 to play in the game, but it took the Mighty Macs just 16 seconds to answer with Piliero's marker from Kopistecki to bring the hosts back to within three (8-3). Immaculata would have several opportunities to score during the final minutes of the game but it was only DeSales that would add three goals to seal up with the win.
Brien Cullen started and played just shy of 56 minutes in goal making 10 saves and allowing nine goals.
Donald Schiffer came in and played the final four minutes giving up two goals.
Immaculata continues its home stand on Wednesday, April 2, hosting Centenary in a Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) game at 4 p.m.
