IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University baseball scored five runs in the fifth inning and again in the seventh to roll to a 10-1 non-conference victory against Penn State Abington on Thursday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions (6-7) jumped out to a quick lead in the game. With one out,
Tom Ditro laced a double into right field. Following a fly out to left, Mike Scaringelli took the 3-2 pitch into left-center for a double of his own to score Ditro and give Penn State Abington an early 1-0 lead.

With the exception of
Rob Wallace's double down the right field line in the second inning, the Mighty Macs (6-7) generated little offense at the plate through the first four innings. However, in the fifth, Immaculata's bats woke up, as the Mighty Macs exploded for five runs, all of them coming with two outs in the inning.

Immaculata loaded the bases in the fifth with
Patrick Boulware's single and walks by
Eli Vottero and
Ryan Tecco.
Jason McCormick plated the first run on a single. The next batter,
Rick DiDomenico, was hit by a pitch, scoring another run, before
Joe DiGiaimo knocked in two more runs with a single up the middle. The final run of the inning scored on an error, and Immaculata led 5-1.

Immaculata scored five more runs in the seventh to take a 10-1 lead. Following a lead-off walk by Tecco, who was advanced to second by McCormick, before taking third on a wild pitch. Tecco then scored easily on DiDomenico's single up the middle. DiGiaimo had his second hit of the game to put runners on the corners for Wallace, who hit a two-run double into left. The Mighty Macs' next batter, Boulware, walked, and after Wallace stole third and Boulware took second, Vottero's groundout to the second baseman to score the ninth run of the game.
Howie Kalamets then produced the final run of the game with his single through the left side.

DiGiaimo and Kalamets both had two hits in the game to lead Immaculata's nine hits as a team. DiDomenico, DiGiaimo and Wallace all produced two RBI.

Adam Wheatley started the game on the mound for the Mighty Macs and lasted four innings allowing just the one run on four hits and striking out two batters.
Matt Dolan (1-0) came in and pitched two innings to get credit for the win. He gave up just one hit.

Chris Goggin,
Matt Lawson and Boulware finished out the game for the Mighty Macs not allowing a Nittany Lion hit during the final three innings.
