Men's Lacrosse Drops CSAC Opener At Cabrini

RADNOR, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's lacrosse team played its Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opener on a frigid Wednesday afternoon at third-ranked Cabrini College falling to the Cavaliers, 24-6.
 
Cabrini (8-0, 1-0 CSAC) scored the first goal of the game just 57 seconds into action. Immaculata netted the equalizer with 5:29 to play in the first quarter on an unassisted goal by Rocco Piliero. The Mighty Macs (0-7, 0-1 CSAC) then took the lead on the Cavaliers with 2:21 remaining in the first quarter as Bhelly Bagbonon scored unassisted.
 
Immaculata's edge was short-lived however as Cabrini tied the game at 2-2 just 14 seconds after the Mighty Macs' goal. The Cavaliers would score once more to lead at the end of the first quarter, 3-2.
 
Cabrini scored five goals during the second quarter and led, 8-2, at halftime.
 
Bagbonon scored at the 9:56 mark of the third quarter to cut the score to 9-3. However, Cabrini ended the stanza with seven goals to take a 16-3 advantage into the final period.
 
The Cavaliers added four more goals before Piliero scored back-to-back tallies for the Mighty Macs. Doug Hughes would score the final goal for Immaculata just with less the five minutes to play in the contest.
 
Piliero's three goals and four ground balls led the team. Bagbonon had two goals and Hughes had one.
 
Immaculata goalie Brien Cullen started and played 30 minutes taking the loss. He allowed 11 goals while making 14 saves and collecting four ground balls. Donald Schiffer played 15 minutes with five saves. Jalal Hodges and Christian Custodio split the remaining 15 minutes with each recording one save.
 
Immaculata will make up its non-conference game with DeSales on Friday at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
