Elizabethtown Gets Best Of Men's Lacrosse

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – After a low scoring first half, host Elizabethtown College scored five goals during the third quarter to distance itself from visiting Immaculata University, and the Blue Jays went on to defeat the Mighty Macs in non-conference men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon, 11-3.
 
Rocco Piliero, Bhelly Bagbonon and Ben Lerario all scored one goal each for Immaculata, and Michael Thompson was credited with one assist.
 
Brien Cullen started in goal for the Mighty Macs and played just under 58 minutes recording 20 saves while allowing 10 Elizabethtown goals. Christian Custodio played the final 2:22 not making any stops while giving up one goal.
 
Each team scored two goals in the first quarter, but it was the Blue Jays that started the contest with two goals less than one minute apart for the 2-0 lead. The Mighty Macs managed to tie the game at 2-2 as Lerario scored on Thompson's pass with 9:12 to play, and Piliero delivered the tying goal with 3:07 remaining in the quarter.
 
Elizabethtown (4-2) scored the only goal of the second quarter with 11:15 left on the clock, and held a one-goal lead against Immaculata, 3-2, at halftime.
 
The second half began with Elizabethtown scoring four-straight goals during the first seven minutes of the third quarter to open up a 7-2 lead. Bagbonon ended the Blue Jays run with his tally with 7:08 left to bring the Mighty Macs within four (7-3).
 
However, Elizabethtown added one more goal before the third quarter came to a close, and scored three additional goals in the fourth quarter.
 
Immaculata (0-6) will begin Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Wednesday afternoon traveling to Cabrini College at 6:30 p.m.
