Mighty Macs Fall in Rain Soaked CSAC Opener, 15-3

IMMACULATA, Pa--The Immaculata (2-3, 0-1) women's lacrosse team opened up conference play this afternoon against Neumann at home, and the Knights took the CSAC contest 15-3 over the Mighty Macs.

The first half started with the Knights scoring three straight goals in the first five minutes, before Alyssa Petito netted one for the Macs off an assist from Kelly Lapp. Neumann then answered back with six consecutive goals to close out the first half with a 9-1 lead.

The second half started much like the first, with the Knights scoring four consecutive goals to widen their lead. The Mighty Macs would not go away though, firing a plethora of shots that banked off the post culminating in a goal from senior Katie Cook with just over 14 minutes to go. Neumann then tallied a goal of their own before surrendering a goal to Immaculata's Danielle Lopez from Allison Jakavick with just over eight minutes to go to cut the deficit to 14-3.

The Knights added one more before the final horn sounded, downing the Mighty Macs 15-3.

Senior Nicole Behrndt was in net for the Mighty Macs and moved into third place on the school's all-time saves list with 153.

Junior Samantha Bonvetti played well with her start picking up four ground balls, while Lopez led the Mighty Macs with six draw controls.

Immaculata continues CSAC play Saturday on the road at Marywood, starting at 12 p.m.
