Women's Lacrosse Takes First Loss of 2014

Box Score

READING, Pa.-Immaculata looked to extend their program-best start to a season as they travelled to Reading for a non-conference matchup with Albright, but the Lions (3-2) scored the first eight goals of the game and the Mighty Macs (2-1) were unable to crawl back in a 19-5 defeat.

The Mighty Macs had five different goal scorers net one goal each.  Senior Katie Cook, sophomore Shannon Neill, sophomore Allison Jakavick, junior Danielle Lopez, and senior Mandy Grahn all found the back of the net once.  Cook added two assists, while Jakavick and Neill had one each.

Senior goalie Nicole Behrndt played the whole game in net and picked up 10 saves.  The Immaculata defense sustained heavy pressure from Albright for most of the game and still caused 17 turnovers.

After the Lions fired out of the gate with the first eight goals of the game 11 minutes in, Cook put an end to the run with her 99th career goal and 12th of the season.

Albright would then score the next four before Grahn put home her fourth of the season on an assist from Neill to send the game to half with the Mighty Macs trailing 12-2.

Lopez, Jakavick, and Neill all added goals in the second half, but the early advantage by Albright was too much to overcome.

Immaculata will look to get back into the win column when they play their home opener on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Rowan.
