IMMACULATA, Pa. – For the second-straight game,
Alison Zimny and
Adriana Sciascia sparked Immaculata University's late comeback as the Mighty Macs came back from a six-point deficit with three minutes remaining to upend Marywood University, 70-63, in Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) women's basketball action Saturday inside Alumnae Hall.

After experiencing a minor delay in the game due to a power outage inside Alumnae Hall with 3:50 to go in the game and Marywood leading, 59-55, the Pacers got two free throws from Morgann Haduck to go up by six (61-55) with 3:08 remaining. Zimny then went down the court on back-to-back possessions for the Mighty Macs and had a jumper followed by draining a 3-pointer to cut the Pacers lead to just one, 61-60, with 2:25 left.

After a Marywood turnover, Sciascia then had a jumper with 1:46 on the clock to give Immaculata its first lead (62-61) since 44 seconds remained in the opening half. Zimny again connected with a jumper as just over one minute remained the game.

As Immaculata (16-5, 11-1 CSAC) has shown all year, its strong free throw shooting helped seal the victory. Marywood began fouling during the final 36 seconds after its layup attempt was rebounded by Zimny. Sciascia, who was 4-for-4 at the line during the final minute of the game, gave the Mighty Macs a 66-61 lead after she hit two shots with 35.7 seconds on the clock.

Marywood's (12-8, 7-5 CSAC) Ashley Murray had a layup at the other end to cut the score in favor of Immaculata to 66-63 with 24.9 remaining. The Pacers again quickly fouled to send Sciascia to the line for two more makes with 23.7 left, and
Sara Smith's two free throws with 10.9 remaining assured the Mighty Macs the 70-63 win.

Sciascia led all scorers with 21 points, six assists, four rebounds and three steals. Sciascia finished 8 of 8 at the charity stripe for the game, and 17 of her 21 points came during the second half.
Lindsay Cras came off the bench and provided 10 points and three rebounds to the Mighty Macs' effort.
Brittany Merkle and
Marisa Kinsey each chipped in eight points. Merkle led the team on the glass with 11 rebounds.

Zimny, Smith and
Mackie Fitzgerald all had seven points. Zimny also had four assists and four steals, Smith added 10 rebounds and three assists, and Fitzgerald dished out five assists and made two steals.

Immaculata outscored Marywood 44-33 during the second half. The Mighty Macs shot 40.5 percent (15-37) from the field and were 11-for-12 (.917) at the free throw line in the second stanza.

The Mighty Macs had led by as many as six during the opening period. However, after four lead changes and three ties during the first 20 minutes, it was Marywood who had the 30-26 edge at halftime.

Maddie Lavery led Marywood with 16 points and 11 rebounds for the double-double.

Immaculata, who is currently atop the CSAC standings, takes on Cabrini College (16-4, 10-1 CSAC) Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at Alumnae Hall.
