Women's Basketball Opens CSAC Play With 81-39 Win

BALTIMORE – Immaculata University's women's basketball team began the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) portion of its 2014-15 schedule Wednesday night with an 81-39 victory at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
 
The Mighty Macs (2-4, 1-0 CSAC) placed a trio of scorers in double figures led by Reilly Larkin's 13 points. Sara Smith posted 12 points and Lindsay Cras added 11. In all, 14 Immaculata players finished in the scoring column.
 
Cras was the team's leading rebounder with five boards, and Smith grabbed for rebounds. Alison Zimny and Samantha Bonvetti each handed out a team-best four assists, and Zimny swiped four steals.
 
Immaculata grabbed the lead at the start of the contest with a Smith jumper, and the Mighty Macs never trailed in the game. Immaculata had built a double-figure lead, 14-4, by the 12:16 mark of the first half.
 
A three-point field goal by the Gators with 9:45 remaining in the first half trimmed the Mighty Macs' lead to 17-9. However, a 12-0 run by Immaculata gave the visitors a 20-point cushion (29-9) with 4:21 to play before intermission. Immaculata eventually took a 48-20 lead into half time.
 
Immaculata steadily extended its advantage against Notre Dame during the second half until the final 81-39 margin of victory.
 
Immaculata returns home to Alumnae Hall on Saturday, December 6, hosting Marywood in CSAC action beginning at 1 p.m.
