Sara Smith scored a game-high 20 points, and
Adriana Sciascia added 14, to lead host Immaculata University women's basketball to a 58-42 victory over visiting Lancaster Bible College inside Alumnae Hall Monday evening.

Immaculata (1-3) earned its first win on the young season while Lancaster Bible dropped to 1-2 overall.

The Mighty Macs pressured the Chargers into 31.6 percent shooting from the field (18-for-57) while Immaculata shot 41.3 percent (26-for-63), including 46.7 percent in the second half. The Mighty Macs held the Chargers to just 20 points after halftime. Smith scored 14 of her 20 in the second half.

Brittany Merkle led all rebounders with 11. She also added six points. Smith came close to a double-double with eight caroms. Smith and
Alison Zimny each handed out a team-best four assists.

There was just one lead change early in the first half, before the host Mighty Macs took the lead for good. Â Lancaster Bible's Aubrey Folger (17 points) hit a layup with 13:09 left in the first half to give the Chargers' their only lead. Immaculata responded by holding the visitor's scoreless over the next 6:45 while the Mighty Macs rattled off a 12-0 run.

A Sciascia layup with 6:35 to go in the game gave Immaculata a double-digit lead that never dipped below that mark again.

Immaculata will be idle for the next week before heading to Richard Stockton on Monday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. It will mark the first road test for the Mighty Macs this season.
