Women's Basketball Keeps Rolling In CSAC Play

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University women's basketball continued its undefeated streak in the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) and stayed perfect on its home court this season after rolling to a 71-31 win against visiting Baptist Bible College on Saturday afternoon.
 
Alison Zimny chipped in a game-high 16 points, including connecting for three three-pointers, for the Mighty Macs. Zimny also grabbed four steals. Sara Smith added 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals for Immaculata in the win.
 
Immaculata runs its record to 9-3 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
 
Zimny started the game scoring Immaculata's first eight points and 10 of the team's first 13 points, while Immaculata built a 13-0 lead by the 16:02 mark. The Mighty Macs played swarming defense as the Defenders did not attempt their first shot until the 16:25 mark. During that span, Immaculata forced Baptist Bible into seven turnovers to start the game. Baptist Bible (0-8, 0-4 CSAC) knocked down its first points of the contest with 15:19 remaining to cut Immaculata's lead to 13-2.
 
The Mighty Macs scored 12-straight points to run their advantage to 25-2 just inside seven minutes remaining in the first half. The two teams were able to keep pace with one another during the final 6:38 of the contest as Immaculata outscored Baptist Bible just 11-10. The Defenders got six of those 10 points down the stretch from the foul line as Alyssa Cole was 3-for-5.
 
Immaculata held its largest lead of the first half of 26 points (36-10) with 2:58 to play in the stanza. The Mighty Macs eventually went into the locker room with a 36-12 lead. Immaculata forced Baptist Bible into 23 turnovers during the first half that it turned into 21 points.
 
Zimny had 13 points at halftime, while Mackie Fitzgerald scored seven points and Smith five points by intermission.
 
The Mighty Macs continued to pull away during the second half, and the final margin, 71-31, was their largest advantage of the contest.
 
Fitzgerald finished with seven points, four assists and four steals. Lindsay Cras, Marisa Kinsey and Jacquelyn McClellan all added five points. Brittany Merkle and Kinsey also held team-high honors with Smith with five rebounds apiece.
 
Immaculata plays a non-conference tilt at Rowan on Monday night at 7 p.m.
