Box Score

DOYLESTOWN, Pa.-The Immaculata women's soccer team scored their first victory of 2013 on Tuesday afternoon over Delaware Valley (2-4) by a count of 2-1. Junior Rachel Gannon broke a 1-1 tie in the 70th minute when she converted a penalty kick that would stand as the game-winner.

The Mighty Macs (1-5) got off to a fast start and grabbed the early lead. Freshman Rachel Lamb scored her first career goal in the 9th minute when she knocked home a rebound after Rachel Gannon's initial shot was stopped. The assist is Gannon's first of 2013.

The 1-0 lead held up for much of the first half until Shayna Schaeffer of Delaware Valley tied the game with a shot over junior goalie Meghan McCurnin's head from about eight yards out to make it 1-1 in the 42nd minute.

The game would remain dead-locked until Gannon netted her second goal of the season on the penalty kick.

McCurnin (seven saves) and the rest of the defense would hold onto the 2-1 lead as the Mighty Macs claimed their first victory of the season.

Immaculata will look to make it two in a row on Thursday when they travel to Arcadia for their final non-conference game of the year at 7 p.m.
