Mighty Macs Edged By Richard Stockton, 2-0

Box Score

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata women's soccer fell on Saturday afternoon to Richard Stockton (5-2) by a score of 2-0.  The Mighty Macs (0-5) played stout defense, but two goals by the Ospreys was too much to overcome in the non-conference defeat.

Richard Stockton broke the scoreless first half in the 32nd minute when Adrianna Boucher sent a cross into the middle that was finished off by Jessica Balnis for a 1-0 Ospreys lead.  The goal deflected off of sophomore starting goalie Elizabeth McBride, who collected eleven saves for the game.

The Mighty Macs had two quality chances in the first half.  Junior Rachel Gannon had a header that was scooped up by the goalie while freshman Shelby Clare had a free kick from 35 yards out that was also stopped by goalkeeper.

Immaculata spent much of the second half playing stout defense and staying just one goal down until the 77th minute when the Ospreys put the game out of reach.  On a corner kick Brooke Southard took a point blank shot that was stopped by McBride, but the rebound came right back to Southard who found the back of the net for a 2-0 advantage that would hold as the final score.

Juniors Zabrina Gallagher and Rebecca Stack, and sophomore Rachael Gugasian played very well in the back third for the Mighty Macs against consistent pressure by Stockton all day long.

The Mighty Macs will stay in non-conference play when they travel to Delaware Valley on Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m.
