PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's soccer team travelled to Father Judge High School to take on Penn State-Abington in their season opener, and after a scoreless first half, the Nittany Lions (1-0) scored two second half goals to take the non-conference matchup 2-0. The Mighty Macs (0-1) put nine shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net in the first game on the 2013 schedule.

Meghan McCurnin was solid in net making eight saves including a shutout first half.
Offensively, freshmen
Paulina Rucci and
Carly Mirarchi had strong debuts in tying for the team lead with two shots on goal each. Senior
Amanda Markie also had two shots on goal.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Penn State-Abington finally broke through in the 60
th minute. Mallory Mugnier dribbled through the middle of the field down the left side and fired a shot that deflected off of McCurnin and into the back of the net for the first goal of the season.
The Mighty Macs applied pressure over the next thirty minutes, but were unable to tie the game up before the Nittany Lions put the game away in the final minute.
With Immaculata applying extra offensive pressure Jacqueline Alexander slipped behind the defense for a break away goal to get Penn State-Abington the 2-0 victory.
Immaculata will get a chance to bounce back from their opening set back on Wednesday, September 4
th in their home opener against Albright at 6:30 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
