SCRANTON, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's lacrosse team dropped a 26-11 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) contest to Marywood University Saturday afternoon.
It was a tightly contest first half, as Marywood held a slim one-goal lead (6-5) at the end of the first quarter, and was ahead by just four goals (13-9) at halftime. However, the host Pacers limited the visiting Mighty Macs to just two second-half goals, while putting in another 13 goals during the final two periods.
Dante Tuscai led Immaculata scoring five goals, and
Bhelly Bagbonon also had five points with one goal and four assists.
Ryan Cipriani added three goals, while
Rocco Piliero and
Jordon Smith each chipped in one goal each.
Ben Tuscai finished with two assists, and
Mike Quinn had one helper.
Marywood (4-10, 3-2 CSAC) scored first at the 12:50 mark, and Immaculata played catch-up for most of the first quarter. The Pacers led 4-2 after a goal with 5:41 remaining in the quarter when Smith and Bagbonon scored just 30 seconds apart to quickly tie the game at 4-4 with 3:49 left.
Cipriani gave the Mighty Macs (3-10, 2-3 CSAC) their only lead of the game with just 1:32 remaining in the first quarter, and it forced the Pacers to call a timeout. Marywood responded with two goals during the final 30 seconds of the first quarter, and the hosts led 6-5 after the first period.
Marywood came out and scored four goals during the first five minutes of the second quarter to lead 11-5, and Immaculata called timeout.
Dante Tuscai then rattled off three goals, and Bagbonon scored with 32 seconds remaining before halftime to cut Marywood's lead to 13-9 at the break.
Jon Diodati made four saves in goal for the Mighty Macs, and
Jalal Hodges recorded 10 saves.
Immaculata plays its final game of the 2013 season on Thursday, April 25, when it hosts Cabrini College at 4 p.m. It will mark Senior Day at Draper Walsh Stadium for the Mighty Macs.
