LANCASTER, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team (5-3, 1-0) got back to their winning ways on Tuesday afternoon with an 18-6 victory over Lancaster Bible after a ten day break. After falling behind 1-0, the Mighty Macs scored the next five goals and ten of the next twelve, to take a commanding 10-3 halftime advantage. Freshman
Allison Jakavick (four GBs) led Immaculata with a career-high six goals.
Freshman
Kelly Lapp (two assists, four GBs) and sophomore
Danielle Lopez (one assist, three GBs, four DCs) added three goals apiece to add to the scoring for the Mighty Macs. Juniors
Caitlin Caruso (one assist, three GBs, three DCs) and
Katie Cook (two assists, three DCs) were the other multi-goal scorers as they added two goals each.
Freshman
Shannon Neill (two assists) and junior Amanda Grahn (one assist) each had goals to finish out the scoring. The Mighty Macs had ten assists on their eighteen goals, which is the second most this season.
After falling behind 1-0, Immaculata responded with five consecutive goals from five different scorers over a six minute stretch. Grahn, Jakavick, Lapp, Neill, and Caruso all netted goals to spark the run.
After Lancaster Bible scored to make it 5-2, Immaculata responded with three more from Jackavick, Lapp, and Cook to extend the advantage to 8-2.
Lopez and Jakavick would score once more before half to make it 10-3 at the break.
After Lancaster Bible scored the first goal out of halftime to make it 10-4, Immaculata put the game away with six straight goals over the next fourteen minutes to take a commanding 16-4 lead with 13 minutes to go. Jakavick would score three of the six goals during the run to carry the Mighty Macs.
Junior
Nicole Behrndt got the win in net with five saves.
NOTES: The five wins this season matches a program-high for a season … The Mighty Macs won five games in both 2010 and 2011.
