LA PLUME, Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team (8-9, 3-4 CSAC) snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory in game one of a CSAC doubleheader over No. 13 Keystone (16-6, 5-1 CSAC) on Monday afternoon at Christy Matthewson Field.  The Giants came back with an 18-5 triumph in the second game.  Junior pitcher Bryan McHale tossed his second shutout of the season and fourth of his career in the opener.  He surrendered just five hits while striking out five to lift the Mighty Macs to the first win in program history over Keystone.
 
The Mighty Macs set the tone early in game one by jumping on top 1-0 after the top of the first.  Sophomore right fielder Matthew Lawson (0-for-4, R) reached second on an error to start the game before senior first baseman Matt Hardy (2-for-2, HR, 2 BB, SB, RBI, R) walked.  Junior catcher Patrick Boulware laid down a sacrifice bunt to move them both into scoring position when freshman third baseman Robert Wallace (0-for-4, RBI) hit an RBI groundout to score Lawson to give Immaculata the early advantage.
 
McHale (3-1) held the Giants in check through two innings before Hardy hit his third home run of the season to left-center field to increase the Mighty Mac lead to 2-0.  He is now tied with junior shortstop Joe DiGiaimo for the team lead in home runs.
 
From there, McHale shut down Keystone for the remainder of the game.  He allowed only one runner to reach third base in the contest and only had two runners on base in the same innings once.
 
McHale allowed one-out singles in the fourth and fifth innings, but he used double play balls to escape both jams.
 
Fittingly in the seventh after surrendering another one-out single, McHale induced a 6-4-3 double play to end the game and lift the Mighty Macs to their first win over the Giants in four seasons.
 
Through three CSAC starts this season, McHale has thrown 20 innings while surrendering just one earned run and earning two shutout victories.
 
In game two, the Giants broke out offensively to pull away from the Mighty Macs early and capture the second game 18-5.
 
Immaculata went down in order in the first and second innings and Keystone took advantage by scoring six runs in the second inning off senior pitcher Richard Cusic (2-2).
 
Freshman pitcher Nicholas Campione came on in relief in the third and surrendered two runs, one earned, over two innings of work to make it 8-0 after four innings.
 
In the top of the fifth, the Mighty Macs got on the board with an RBI double off the bat of junior second baseman Elijah Vottero (3-for-3, 2 2B, 3 RBIs) to make it 8-1 after the top of the fifth.
 
The Giants responded with three more in the fifth off freshman pitcher Josh Pedorenko as the Keystone lead was now 11-1.
 
However, Immaculata responded again with four more in the sixth.  Hardy (1-for-3, R, SB) singled before Boulware walked with one out.  DiGiaimo (1-for-3, R, RBI) and freshman designated hitter Michael Lascomb (2-for-3, RBI, R) then hit RBI singles before Vottero hit a two-run double to wrap up the Immaculata scoring.
 
Keystone put the game away in the bottom of the sixth with seven more runs to get to the final of 18-5.
 
Immaculata will now travel to Penn State-Abington on Wednesday at 4 p.m. before returning to conference play next weekend against Centenary.
