IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University dropped its final home non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon to King's College, 11-3.
Ryan Cipriani,
Rocco Piliero and
Jordon Smith all tallied goals for the Mighty Macs in the loss, while
Dante Tuscai and
Mike Boyd recorded one assist apiece.
Tuscai was also 6-for-9 on face-offs.
Aaron Burton,
Joe Amorosi, Piliero and
John Abruzzo each collected a team-high four ground balls, and Burton caused two King's turnovers. Mighty Macs' goalkeeper
Jon Diodati recorded 15 saves.
After a one-goal first quarter, King's (6-1) built a 6-1 halftime lead. A.J. Bungert gave King's a 1-0 first quarter lead off just 2:26 into the game, and then the Monarchs posted a five-goal second stanza as Mike O'Brien found the back of the net four times and Kevin Sweeney once.
Piliero put the Mighty Macs on the scoreboard with 4:38 remaining before halftime to cut their deficit to 3-1.
However, the Monarchs added four more goals in the third period to push the lead to 10-2. Smith scored Immaculata's third-quarter goal off a feed from Tuscai at the 5:15 mark, cutting King's lead to 8-2.
Cipriani scored Immaculata's final marker with 5:14 to play in the contest on an assist from Boyd.
O'Brien topped the Monarchs with five goals and three assists, while Sweeney followed with two goals and two assists. Monarch goalie Brendan McCrudden made 16 saves.
Immaculata (1-6) will be off until April 3 when it travels to DeSales at 4 p.m.
