Elizabethtown Holds Off Immaculata, 18-14

IMMACULATA, Pa.
– Elizabethtown held on to its early lead to defeat a surging Immaculata men's lacrosse team on Wednesday night at Draper Walsh Stadium, 18-14, in a non-conference matchup.
 
The Blue Jays (4-1) scored six goals during the first quarter, and it proved to be what clinched the victory for the visitors. Immaculata outscored Elizabethtown, 14-12, during the final three quarters of play. The Mighty Macs cut the goal margin to four (13-9) with a goal from Rocco Piliero with 1:10 remaining in the third quarter, as Immaculata used a five-goal third quarter to get back in the game.
 
The Mighty Macs (1-5) hovered at the four-goal margin for much of the final quarter before trimming the Blue Jays advantage to three (17-14) on another Piliero goal with just 55 seconds remaining. Elizabethtown held off Immaculata with its final tally with just 12 seconds to play for the win.
 
Bhelly Bagbonon and Ben Tuscai each recorded five points during the game. Bagbonon had four goals and one assist, while Tuscai recorded five assists. Dante Tuscai finished with three goals and one assist, and Piliero accounted for four of the Mighty Macs' goals. Luc Minnich has three tallies, while Tayler Acree had two helpers. Ryan Cipriani and Mike Boyd also assisted on one goal each.
 
Immaculata's Jon Diodati started the game in goal, making 10 saves in just under 40 minutes. Jalal Hodges came in and made five stops in relief.
 
Elizabethtown was paced by four-goal efforts from Jordan Bowser and Craig Hunsberger. The Blue Jays used three different goalkeepers with its starter Chris Wenger picking up the win with five saves in 42 minutes in goal.
 
Immaculata rounds out its homestand next Wednesday hosting King's at 4 p.m.
