IMMACULATA, Pa.-The Immaculata women's lacrosse team (3-1) rode a season-high offensive output to a 21-15 victory over Misericordia (0-4), their third straight. Freshman
Shannon Neill netted a team-high six goals and added two assists for eight points, while freshman
Kelly Lapp had five goals and one assist for six points. The three-game winning streak is the first for the Mighty Macs since 2010.
Sophomore
Danielle Lopez scored four goals and added one assist and junior
Caitlin Caruso with two goals was the final multi-goal scorer on the day.
Katie Cook (two assists),
Aneesa Hill (one assist), Amanda Grahn, and
Allison Jakavick each added one goal apiece to finish out the scoring for the Mighty Macs.
Junior
Nicole Behrndt (3-1) picked up the win in net with twelve saves.
Immaculata used a 13-8 first half start to give them a lead they would never relinquish the rest of the game. In the opening half, the lead changed three times in the first 15 minutes as Misericordia held a 5-4 lead, but the Mighty Macs went on a decisive 4-0 run to take the lead permanently.
Neill and Lapp scored to give Immaculata the lead before Caruso netted back-to-back goals in 16 seconds to swell the advantage to three at 8-5. The Cougars scored one to halt the run, but Immaculata went right back to scoring with another 4-0 spurt.
Cook, Lapp, Lopez, and Neill each scored as part of the run to get the lead to its largest to that point at 12-6.
After halftime, the Mighty Macs swelled the lead to as big as eight at 15-7 after Lapp netted her fourth of the game in a man-up situation. Misericordia then scored six of the next seven goals to make it 16-13 with 16 minutes to go.
Immaculata halted the run with a Lopez goal and the Mighty Macs closed the game on a 5-2 run to claim their third straight win.
Lopez and Caruso each controlled six draws to lead the team. Caruso also picked up a team-high five groundballs.
The Mighty Macs will try to make it four in a row on Saturday when they host Albright at 1 p.m.
