Mighty Macs Drop Road Contest at Rosemont

BOX SCORE

ROSEMONT, Pa.-
Immaculata travelled to Rosemont (16-7, 12-3 CSAC) looking to come away with a late-season CSAC victory, but the Ravens kept the Mighty Macs (8-15, 6-8 CSAC) at arms' length the entire second half to close out a 71-64 Rosemont win.  The Mighty Macs held the lead early in the first half before the Ravens seized a lead that they would not relinquish for the rest of the game.

Senior Chrissy Esbensen led the Mighty Macs with 19 points, along with four assists.  Sophomore Adriana Sciascia scored 12 points while sophomore Lindsay Cras chipped in 11 points, all in the second half.

Trailing by five at halftime, Immaculata hoped to start fast in the second half, but the Ravens slowly built their lead behind Ashley Montecchio (20 points, 18 rebounds) and Liz Coyne (16 points, 14 rebounds) up to 55-39 with twelve minutes to go in the game.

However, as they've done in recent games, the Mighty Macs put together a second half charge to get back in the game.  Immaculata ripped off seven straight to pull within nine at 55-46.  A Cras three-pointer, Sciascia jumper, and Esbensen lay-up provided the scoring during the run.

The Ravens then re-established their offense and maintained their double digit lead until an Esbensen lay-up with 2:46 left made it 65-58, but the Ravens ensured that Immaculata would not get any closer as they scored the next three points and closed out the victory.

In the first half, Immaculata trailed by as many as 15 points at 24-9 with 8:11 to go before the break, but a quick 10-2 run by the Mighty Macs over the next two minutes pulled them right back into the game.  Esbensen and senior Katie Durkin each scored five points during the stretch.

The teams continued to trade buckets in the remaining minutes of the first half before Sciascia knocked down a jumper that would pull the Mighty Macs within five at 35-30 going to halftime.  Immaculata had seven different scorers at the half with Durkin leading with eight points, followed by Esbensen and Sciascia with seven each.

Immaculata will now return home on Monday to host Keystone at 6 p.m. at Alumnae Hall for Senior Night and the Play4Kay basketball event.
