Mighty Macs Drop Men's Lacrosse Opener, 10-7

DOVER, Del.
– The Immaculata University men's lacrosse team fell to Wesley College, 10-7, in the 2013 season opener Wednesday afternoon.
 
Bhelly Bagbonon led the Mighty Macs (0-1) with three goals and two assists. Rocco Piliero tallied two goals, while Ben Tuscai and Ryan Cipriani each notched one apiece. Cipriani also assisted on one goal.
 
Tied at 2-2 entering the second quarter, Wesley scored just 12 seconds into the quarter to begin a five-goal stanza for the Wolverines. Cipriani evened the score at 3-all with his goal at the 12:05 mark, but Wesley rattled off four-straight tallies to give the hosts a 7-3 edge at halftime.
 
Wesley pushed its lead to five (8-3) with a goal just 30 seconds into the third quarter. However, Immaculata made a furious three-goal run during a seven-minute stretch to cut the margin to 8-6 by the end of the third. Piliero sparked the run with the first two goals, and Tuscai dented the net for the third goal of the spurt.
 
The Wolverines (1-0) scored two goals during the first five minutes of the fourth quarter to stop the Mighty Macs momentum. Bagbonon scored his third goal of the contest with 2:23 remaining for the final 10-7 margin.
 
Immaculata goalkeeper Jon Diodati made 12 saves in 60 minutes of action. Wesley goalie Matt Ryan recorded 14 stops to preserve the win.

Lane Kocovsky scored three goals to lead the Wolverines' attack. Sam Seibert and Jathan Mahaffey each had two goals and one assist.  
 
Immaculata opens its home schedule on Saturday, February 23, hosting Arcadia at 1 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
