IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University baseball team dropped a pair of CSAC games to Keystone on Saturday afternoon in the final conference regular season doubleheader. The Giants won the opener 5-2 and claimed the nightcap, 5-3.
In the opener, The Mighty Macs knotted the score, 1-1, in the bottom of the first when
Eli Vottero scored on
Joe DiGiaimo's sacrifice fly.
The Giants regained the lead with a single in the second and extended the lead with a pair of runs in the fourth before adding an insurance run in the sixth to secure the win. Vottero scored Immaculata's second run of the contest on DiGiaimo's single in the seventh.
Bryan McHale (1-5) took the loss in seven innings allowing five runs on nine hits and struck out six batters.
In the nightcap, Vottero scored on a passed ball to give Immaculata an early lead but the Giants pushed two runs across in the second and third for a 4-1 advantage.
Immaculata put together a rally in its half of the third inning when Vottero led off with a double and would come around to score on
Matt Hardy's single. After a scoreless fourth, Hardy knocked in a homerun to bring the game to 4-3, but couldn't even the score.
Hardy and DiGiaimo both went 2-for-3 while Hardy registered two RBIs.
Richard Cusic (2-4) pitched a complete game for the loss allowing nine hits and struck out four batters.
Immaculata concludes the 2012 season on Sunday with a doubleheader at York. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
