DOYLESTOWN, Pa.- The Immaculata University baseball squad used a four-run eighth inning to defeat host Delaware Valley, 7-5, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mighty Macs trailed the Aggies 1-0 through two innings before knotting the score in the top of the third.
Eli Vottero drew a walk and then advanced on walk by
Matt Hardy before coming around to score when
Joe DiGiaimo reached on a fielder's choice.
Immaculata and Delaware Valley traded zeros through the fourth inning but the Mighty Macs gained the lead in the fifth with a single run from
Brandon Seibert on
TJ Warner's single.
Delaware Valley scored pair of runs in the fifth and sixth to put the Aggies ahead, 5-2.
Immaculata began its rally in the seventh on
Matt Bolden's RBI single followed by four runs in the eighth to seal the win.
Matt Hardy delivered a three-RBI triple scoring Vottero, Seibert, and
Joseph Knazek. Hardy came around to score on Warner's suicide squeeze bunt to cap the scoring.
Aaron Dietrich pitched 4.1 innings on the mound for Immaculata, allowing three earned runs on four hits.
Kirk Wenzler relieved Dietrich giving up two earned runs on three hits in 1.2 innings. Alex Kobylinksi (2-1) earned the win in 2.0 innings and did not allow any hits while striking out two batters.
Richard Cusic pitched the final inning earning his third save of the season.
Immaculata collected a total of seven hits, led by
TJ Warner's 2-for-4 effort from the plate. Hardy finished with a team-high three RBIs.
Immaculata faces Keystone College this weekend in its final CSAC season series. Game one is set to take place on Friday afternoon at Keystone beginning at 3 p.m.
