IMMACULATA, Pa. – Gwynedd-Mercy College was able to escape with a 13-10 win against Immaculata University on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium in a Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse tilt.
The Mighty Macs (2-12, 2-4 CSAC) scored three of the first four goals of the game for an early 3-1 lead with 1:56 to play in the first quarter.
However, the Griffins (9-4, 5-1 CSAC) netted two goals just 19 second apart to tie the score at 3-3 after the first quarter. Gwynedd-Mercy proceeded to score three more consecutive goals to lead 6-3 midway through the second quarter.
Ben Tuscai scored for Immaculata with 7:15 remaining before halftime, but Gwynedd-Mercy scored once more to have a three-goal lead at halftime, 7-4.
Tuscai scored two goals and
Joey Shallow scored once during the opening four minutes of the second half, bringing the Mighty Macs within one goal of the Griffins (8-7). Unfortunately, Gwynedd-Mercy scored four goals within a five-minute stretch to go ahead, 12-7, and Immaculata could not come any closer than the final three-goal margin at the end of the game.
Tuscai amassed six goals and one assist for seven points. Shallow finished with a hat trick, and
Mike Boyd tallied one goal for Immaculata. IU goalkeeper
Max Bonhage recorded 20 saves in the losing effort.
Mason Risner led the Griffins with five points on two goals and three assists.
Ryley O'Keefe recorded 11 stops.
Immaculata plays its final contest of the regular season on Thursday, April 26, when it travels to Shenandoah at 4 p.m.
