Immaculata Slips 13-9 To Arcadia

IMMACULATA, Pa.
– Arcadia University defeated Immaculata University in its final non-conference women's lacrosse game of the season Thursday afternoon, 13-9, at Draper Walsh Stadium.
 
Arcadia (7-7) used a three-minute span to score three goals and jump in front, 3-0, of Immaculata less than seven minutes into the first half. However, the Mighty Macs (3-12) had a three-goal run of their own to knot the score, 3-3, with 8:50 remaining in the opening half. The Knights scored twice more in less than a minute, but Katie Cook and Kelly Kugler were able to strike less than a minute apart for the Mighty Macs. The score was tied 6-6 at halftime.
 
After the squads traded goals to open the second half, the Knights netted three consecutive goals to lead 9-6 at the 22:55 mark. Immaculata cut its deficit to one (9-8) at the midway point of the stanza as Cook and Alyssa Petito each scored. Unfortunately, Arcadia put together a four-goal spurt to distance itself from Immaculata.
 
Emily Hallett scored with 3:47 remaining in the game for the Mighty Macs, but it would not be enough.
 
Kugler led the squad with four points as she finished with a hat trick and one assist. Petito registered two goals and two assists, and Cook netted two goals and one assist.
 
Britt Worthington made eight saves for Immaculata, Arcadia keeper Deanna Thompson recorded 11 saves.
 
Jenna Crothers paced the Knights with three goals and four assists for seven points. Haylee Molloy added four goals.
 
Immaculata hosts Cedar Crest on Saturday, April 21, at 1 p.m. for the season finale.
