CAMDEN, N.J. – The Immaculata women's lacrosse team dropped a one-goal decision to Rutgers-Camden on Thursday afternoon, 16-15, in non-conference action.
Immaculata (0-2) had seven different players scored during the contest led by
Katie Cook's four goals and one assist.
Chelsey Murta tallied three goals and one assist while
Alyssa Petito also registered a hat trick.
Danielle Lopez also amassed four points with two goals and two assists.
Allison Salvo racked up one goal and two assists,
Emily Hallett had one goal and one assist and
Kelly Kugler finished with one goal.
Megan Chacosky added one assist.
After Rutgers-Camden scored the first two goals of the game, Immaculata tallied four straight goals to lead 4-2 with 16:45 remaining in the first half. The Scarlet Raptors made a three-goal run to recapture the lead (5-4) with 13:13 left in the opening period.
The Mighty Macs then scored twice more, but the Scarlet Raptors tied the score at 6-6 with 8:35 left in the first half. However, Immaculata went on a streak during the final eight minutes of the half, scoring six goals, including four straight, to lead 12-7 at intermission.
Rutgers-Camden came within four goals after a tally just over one minute into the second half, but Immaculata answered with two scores to gain the 14-8 advantage at the 23:11 mark of the second half. But, Rutgers-Camden (1-1) rallied from that six-goal deficit to earn the win.
Alexa Giampietro led all scorers with seven goals. Clara Green and Samantha Green each recorded four goals.
Immaculata begins the conference schedule on March 13 when it heads to Rosemont at 4 p.m.
