Immaculata, Pa. - The visiting Marywood Pacers broke open a 5-5 game with a three-run seventh to defeat Immaculata University 13-5 in the opening game of their three game CSAC series Friday afternoon. The Mighty Macs fall to 4-9 overall (1-3 CSAC) and the Pacers improve to 12-5 (4-0 CSAC).
Immaculata took an early lead scoring three runs in the first after a pair of walks that was followed by Brett Knazek's single that scored Eli Vottero. Matt Hardy scored as Joe DiGiaimo reached on a fielder's choice and DiGiaimo would come home on Matt Bolden's single to enter the second inning with a 3-0 lead.
After a scoreless second, Marywood gained the lead in the third scoring four runs before Immaculata answered with two runs of their own on Matt Bolden's two-run double in the bottom of the third to reclaim the lead, 5-4.
The Mighty Macs held the one-run lead until the Pacers knotted the score in the sixth before exploding with three in the seventh, four more in the eighth, and a single in the ninth to claim the win.
Aaaron Dietrich (0-3) picked up the loss on the mound for Immaculata in 6.1 innings. Matt Dolan pitched in relief allowing three runs and Alex Kobylinski allowed the final two Marywood runs before Richard Cusic finished the game.
Immaculata travels to Marywood on Saturday to finish the series with a doubleheader. Due to expected inclement weather later in the day, the opening game will start at 11:00 am.
